P.S if anyone can tell me how to make the pictures big on the Opp feed that would be great!

To embiggen, one must recommend the media (click the star on the photo).

The only way to imbiggen photos is to give a sacrifice to the Oppo Gods. I suggest scantily clad women (SFW though) and beer suggestions.

The C5 has not aged very well but maybe that's a function of how awesome the successors have become.

Oh the 1997 Corvette hard-top. The black sheep of the family.

I didn't think the FRC came out until '99?

I still love this generation corvette. I would love to have C5 Z06 for a fun weekend car.

I think it came out in 1999 but I was 6 at the time so I could be wrong!

Me too! But there is something about the targa top that persuades me to sacrifice the extra 50hp.

I believe you are correct, it was an odd ball in the lineup for sure.

I personally like the design of the car. You can tell what era it comes from and I think that gives it a good character!

Yep confirmed
" In 1999, a third body style, the hardtop (also referred to as the "fixed-roof coupé" or "FRC"), was added to the lineup."

I like it. It comes from a different era and I think it personifies that era pretty well. It has a lot of character.

Wasn't even a sheep. It wasn't available.

It's strange. I love C5 Z06's because they use the hardtop styling, but I hate non-Z06 hardtops. Guess it's one of those "it's ugly, but because it's bad-ass its beautiful" things.

I didn't get the exact date right because I looked at the date on the upper left corner.

Same here. You can always swap the heads/cam and get the power back, because targa.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. If I were to buy one I would just give it a little bumb in power!

The only way I would is if it was the right color combo. They had that Lemans blue for a couple years that was beautiful but 98% had tan interior and it ruins it for me. But the Z06 was just a great car plus they are fairly cheap now on the used market for a low miles car.

They are about the best performance for dollar on the market right now. That is one of the reasons I like them so much, there are an attainable dream car. Did you like yours?

I've never had a corvette. My grandpa had a 01 convertible and that thing was amazing in ride and power. I currently have a 98 SS camaro and its actually not that far behind the corvette in handling. I have some suspension stuff on the way to help stiffen my camaro up.

Remember, though, that there is more to the C5Z than just power upgrades.
Either way, I plan to buy a C5 within the next few years or so. Amazing buy, definitely an attainable dream car.
Also, a powered up coupe is still a really fun and capable vehicle as well.

Oh yeah.
I'm going to try and get rid of my '06 Miata and get a C5.

Good luck, if I may suggest a pointer for your look-
check out corvetteforums.com, they have a classified section for each corvette generation and you'll likely find a better taken care of, better priced car.
